10 EPIC GRAMMY COLLABS (lntv.com)

"Lady Marmalade” — Christina Aguilera, P!nk, Mya, Lil’ Kim, Missy Elliot and Patti Labelle
”Stronger” — Kanye West ft. Daft Punk
“Let’s Stay Together” — Al Green, Justin Timberlake, Keith Urban, Boyz II Men
“Same Love/Open Your Heart” — Mackelmore, Mary Lambert, Queen Latifah, Madonna

”Stan” — Eminem and Elton John
Michael Jackson GRAMMY Tribute
”Burnin’ Up” and “Superstition” — Jonas Brothers and Stevie Wonder
”Radioactive/M.a.a.d. City” — Imagine Dragons and Kendrick Lamar

”Numb/Encore” and "Yesterday” — JAY Z/Linkin Park and Paul McCartney
In what is still to this day a personal favorite Grammy performance, JAY Z and Linkin Park made one of the most unlikely move on the GRAMMYs stage ever. They combined their mega-hit single “Numb” with the beautiful Beatles ballad “Yesterday.” Oh, and they brought out Paul McCartney. Best performance ever? We think so.

'In the End' Wins 2016 Rocktober Rumble (loudwire.com)

We started with 32 of the biggest hard rock hits of the 21st century and over the past month thousands and thousands of votes have been cast. In the end, Linkin Park‘s “In the End” walked away with the title of the Best Hard Rock Hit of the 21st Century after all the votes were tallied.
The band started their run with a convincing victory over Chevelle’s “The Red” in the first round. They also outlasted Queens of the Stone Age’s “No One Knows” in the second round, and emerged victorious in a hard fought match against Godsmack’s “I Stand Alone” in the quarterfinal round.
After winning their bracket, Linkin Park’s “In the End” eeked out a victory against Green Day’s “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” in what would be their stiffest competition. Sniffing victory only one match away, Linkin Park’s “In the End” claimed the title of the Best Hard Rock Hit of the 21st Century by besting Three Days Grace’s “Animal I Have Become.”
Our congrats to Linkin Park, as their Hybrid Theory favorite “In The End” has been voted by Loudwire’s Readers as the Rocktober Rumble 2016 title holder for Best Hard Rock Hit of the 21st Century.

The 10 best Linkin Park songs (teamrock.com)

Like most rock bands of the past 15 years or so, post-hardcore newcomers I Prevail have been immeasurably influenced by Linkin Park. As the Michigan band release their debut LP, Lifelines, we catch up with vocalist Brian Burkheiser for his essential picks from the Californian six-piece that changed everything.

Crawling (2000)
"There’s a lotta different influences I take when writing for our music and whatnot, but if I had to choose one of my favourite bands, it’d probably be Linkin Park. They really influenced my writing style and the band’s writing style, and they’re a band most of us are fans of. Chester Bennington’s voice on Crawling is just phenomenal."

In the End (2000)
"In the End is one that’s really special for me, because it was probably the first Linkin Park song I ever heard. I’m actually 23, so I got into Linkin Park a little later than everyone else. But In the End was one that definitely hit me pretty hard."

One Step Closer (2000)
"This is a huge one from Hybrid Theory, too. I think I just heard it on the radio one day, by chance; that song, for me, is a real hard hitter and has some really cool dynamics."

Papercut (2000)
"The intro to this song is actually one of my favourite parts of any Linkin Park track."

Faint (2003)
"If we’re taking it away from Hybrid Theory, we’ll probably go to Meteora with Faint. I’m a big fan of the synth elements in this song, and that’s something that I Prevail use in our music. We were definitely influenced by Faint and music from that realm."

Numb (2003)
"Obviously it’s one of the bigger hits from Meteora, so I have to put that on the list! A great song."

Breaking the Habit (2003)
"Again, I just love Chester’s voice here. I think that tone and grit he’s got is something I really enjoy, and having him singing against Mike Shinoda on the rapping end of it just brings this really cool element to the song; it just makes it really vocally dynamic."

Somewhere I Belong (2003)
"I think I’ll have Somewhere I Belong… that was on Meteora, right? I haven’t gone through my Linkin Park discography lately so I’m just trying to brush up here, but I’ll throw that onto the list!"

Bleed it Out (2007)
"Bleed It Out just sums up that Linkin Park sound and I think it’s one of the songs that really resonated with me when I was younger."

Shadow of the Day (2007)
"Minutes to Midnight is probably my second-favourite Linkin Park album. This has got so many great songs on it: Given Up, Bleed it Out, What I’ve Done… but I think I’ll pick Shadow of the Day. This is just such a different Linkin Park song. It has such a different vibe, but something I enjoy about my favourite bands – especially Linkin Park – is that they can go from playing these really heavy, aggressive songs to bringing it down and pulling in different elements and dynamics from the band, and Shadow of the Day is a song that does this and really lets Chester’s voice shine."

Everyone and their uncle was covering “Rolling in the Deep” back in 2011 — hell, Uncle Walter bought two copies of 21 just to have an extra one for the car — so you knew some nu-metallists were gonna get in on it. Surprisingly, it wasn’t a one-hit wonder making some last gasp at cultural relevance to take the first crack, but one of the few surviving bands of the era — and more surprisingly, Chester Bennington sounds just as natural wailing “WE COULD HAVE HAD IT AAAA-ALLLLL!!!” as he did wailing about his physics homework back in the day. — A.U.

The 2000s and 2010s are more difficult eras to define, as the guitar was clearly out of the picture in the popular music scene in terms of record sales. However, these decades also saw the rise of digital music and downloading, which made it music easier to access without sales being recorded.

While the enduring popularity of The Beatles can’t be overstated — as their album of previously released music sold better than most of the new material released in the decade — the 2000s largely were about rap going mainstream and being coopted by pop and metal acts.

Blending rap and rock, while adding more pop sensibilities than Nu-Metal’s harder forebearers like Korn and Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park became one of the best-selling bands of the decade with their album Hybrid Theory, which the band reportedly worked on for five years before its release.

One of the hallmarks of Nu-Metal is the use of seven-string guitars, such as the Ibanez Universe U7, which was created for Steve Vai in 1990. Though the company created a variety of seven-string models, all of them were discontinued by the end of ‘94 due to poor sales. The adoption of seven-string guitars by Nu-Metal bands in general and Linkin Park in particular likely did a great deal to bring seven-string guitars back into production and contributed to the resurrection of the UV7BK in 1996, the launch of the UV7SBK in ‘97, and its replacement, the UV777BK in 1998, as well as the RG7620, which specifically found favor with the band.

Linkin Park feat. Jay Z and Paul McCartney, "Numb/Encore/Yesterday" (2006)

The 2004 album Collision Course commemorated the coming together of rap-rockers Linkin Park and rock-interested rapper Jay Z – both near the height of their powers – as well as the solidification of "mash-up culture" in the music-business firmament. A little over a year after that album came out, the Grammys decided to get in on the action, too; the 2006 ceremony featured cross-genre pairings from all over the map. The biggest pairing, torch-passing wise, was definitely Paul McCartney's blessing of the Jay/LP track "Numb/Encore" with a few lines from the Beatles' much-beloved "Yesterday."
