rming in 1996, California rap metal turned alternative rock group Linkin Park have become one of the biggest selling rock acts in the 21st century. With so many awards and accomplishments, it's hard to pick five moments that stood out in their career. We've decided to highlight five pivotal moments that helped make Linkin Park a massive force.

Hybrid Theory

While bands like Clawfinger and Limp Bizkit were delivering rap metal to the masses, Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory will go down as one of the biggest rap metal albums of all time. Released in 2000, the album had a modest debut at number 16 on the Billboard Top 200 charts, but as time passed on, the record sales grew exponentially. Named the best selling debut album of the 21 century, Hybrid Theory have sold over 27 million copies worldwide since its release.

Meteora

With such a huge reaction to Hybrid Theory, it was probably an overwhelming feat to attempt to top that album, however, their 2003 sophomore album Meteora was their biggest first week sales ever with 810,000 copies sold. The album, which sold over 20 million copies worldwide, featured four tracks that topped the US Alternative Songs charts.

Collaboration with Jay Z

In 2004, mashup DJ Al-B3 took the rock stations by storm with his mashup for Jay Z's "99 Problems" and Linkin Park's "One Step Closer". It wasn't long until the two music acts started talking, and they delivered Collision Course, a six song EP that debuted at number one on the Billboard Top 200 and has sold over five million copies worldwide. Collision Course was the second EP to debut at number one on the Billboard charts.

Music For Relief

After the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, Linkin Park founded Music For Relief, which aids areas hit by natural disasters through benefit concerts, online auctions, and events. Due to their constant support of helping communities throughout the world, the band received the Global Leadership Award by the United Nations Foundation/United Nations Association of the United States of America.

Consecutive number one debuts
Linkin Park's massive fanbase has earned them a spot next to Kanye West, Beyonce, U2, Madonna, DMX, and Paul McCartney. No, it's not some fancy dinner with the bunch. The band have joined these musicians in the category of most consecutive albums debuting at number one on the Billboard Top 200 with 5 releases.
